Antitrust: Google lets Russian app developers use other pay means

MOSCOW, Sep 7 (PRIME) -- Google has fulfilled a warning of Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service and improved the signs of violations of the antitrust law in Google Play, the watchdog said late on Tuesday.

“The antimonopoly service has analyzed the company’s actions. One of the clauses of the warning, in addition to elimination of the ban for alternative means of payment, was due informing of developers of the changes,” the watchdog said.

“Having analyzed the actions, the Federal Antimonopoly Service concluded that the company really respected the warning of the service. Google removed restrictions for payments for Russian application developers.”

Earlier, payment for downloaded applications and access to the options and services was provided only via the internal payment system of Google Play. Now, the country’s developers can use alternative means of payment.
